Putrajaya: The Community Communications Department (J-KOM) is set to introduce a more efficient and proactive strategy through its 'J-KOM 4.0' initiative to tackle public issues, announced the newly appointed director-general, Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali. Mohd Hisyamuddin, who assumed his role just four days ago, emphasized the need for J-KOM to function as a dynamic two-way communication channel between the public and the government, especially concerning viral issues on social media.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Hisyamuddin outlined the dual responsibilities of his position: ensuring communication flows seamlessly from the government to the public and vice versa. He made these remarks while addressing the media after filing a police report against businessman Albert Tei, who allegedly disrupted operations at the Ministry of Communications at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters.
Highlighting the importance of responsiveness, Mohd Hisyamuddin stressed that J-KOM must be vigilant of viral issues that cause public anxiety and swiftly relay these concerns to governmental leaders. He stated, "When the community is anxious, J-KOM must take these matters and bring them upwards to the government."
The director-general detailed that the new approach would include swift on-the-ground actions, such as immediate field visits in response to public concerns. On his first day as director-general, he visited several locations that had gained public attention due to viral Rohingya-related issues. The findings from these visits were subsequently shared with government leaders, including Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, and Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
Mohd Hisyamuddin also noted that the government is treating seriously the issues surrounding the influx of Rohingya refugees and foreign business activities that are reportedly impacting the income of local Malaysians, particularly the Bumiputera communities.
