Kuala lumpur: GWM Malaysia is targeting double-digit growth by the end of 2026, building on its strong performance last year, when sales surged 177 per cent to nearly 5,900 units from 2,128 units in 2024. GWM Malaysia chief operating officer Roslan Abdullah stated the company's optimism about sustaining growth momentum, supported by upcoming product launches and growing consumer interest in its vehicle lineup.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Roslan emphasized their aim to achieve this growth with new product launches. During the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, GWM Malaysia unveiled two new electrified models-the ORA 5 HEV compact urban crossover and the HAVAL H7 Hi4 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sport utility vehicle (SUV). These models are part of the automaker's expanded hybrid and plug-in hybrid offerings in Malaysia.
The ORA 5 HEV and HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV are currently being showcased at KLIMS 2026, with details on pricing, availability, and market specifications to be confirmed later. From June 12 to 21, visitors can explore GWM's complete mobility ecosystem at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), where the company is displaying its latest products and technologies.
Roslan also highlighted GWM Malaysia's role as a key pillar in the company's Southeast Asian strategy, focusing on localization under its "Go with Local, Grow with Malaysia" approach. The initiative underscores GWM's commitment to strengthening its presence in Malaysia and supporting the development of the local automotive ecosystem. The company aims to deepen its localization efforts and position Malaysia as a manufacturing and export hub for selected right-hand-drive models in the region.
GWM's competitive edge lies in its strong value proposition and proprietary technologies. The company's Hybrid Intelligent 4WD (Hi4) technology demonstrates its commitment to innovation and technological self-reliance, delivering four-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain performance while reducing costs compared to conventional systems.
Commenting on the recent implementation of the Hire-Purchase (Amendment) Act 2026, Roslan expressed that the new provisions are expected to offer consumers greater flexibility and transparency in managing vehicle financing and settlement arrangements. The amendments aim to enhance the overall ownership experience by simplifying the evaluation of replacement or upgrade options during the vehicle ownership journey.
From an industry perspective, GWM Malaysia remains supportive of initiatives that strengthen the automotive ecosystem. The company continues to focus on delivering a positive customer experience across all stages of ownership, from vehicle purchase and financing accessibility to after-sales support and long-term ownership confidence.
