Four Held Over Crude Palm Oil Misappropriation In Sandakan

Sandakan: The Marine Police Force (PPM), in collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), arrested four men believed to be involved in the misappropriation of crude palm oil during two separate raids in Sandakan yesterday. Sabah Region 4 Marine Police commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim stated that the integrated operation began with a raid along Jalan Sandakan-Kinabatangan at 3.30 pm, resulting in the arrest of four men aged between 20 and 45.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the men were apprehended while transferring crude palm oil from a tanker into another tank for delivery to a separate location. A subsequent raid was conducted at a premises in Bandar Ramai-Ramai, where authorities discovered a tanker and several storage tanks containing both crude and processed palm oil.

The seized goods, comprising about 75,000 litres of crude and processed palm oil, were estimated to be worth RM2.96 million. The case is currently being investigated under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Regulations 2005. Additionally, Mohd Nazri revealed that Sabah Region 4 Marine Police had recorded 11 cases so far this year, resulting in 23 arrests and seizures exceeding RM12 million, all linked to a crude palm oil theft syndicate.
