Floods: Over 1,000 Infectious Disease Cases Detected At Relief Centres In Terengganu.

KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 1,245 cases of infectious diseases have been reported at flood relief centres in Terengganu during this flood season. State Health director Datuk Dr Kasemani Embong revealed the statistics, highlighting that respiratory infections accounted for the highest number of cases, totalling 969, followed by skin diseases with 166 cases.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Kasemani also noted that there were 63 cases of fever, 47 cases of stomach and intestinal inflammation, and several cases of eye inflammation reported. Fortunately, no serious infections, which could cause an outbreak, were detected. She emphasized the importance of practising hygiene and safety measures to prevent disease infections, particularly for those living in flood-affected areas and relief centres.

Dr. Kasemani urged the public to remain vigilant as people in flood-affected areas were at risk of contracting infectious diseases like diarrhoea, E-coli infection, and leptospirosis.
