Putrajaya: A former Chief of Army and his two wives arrived at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court Complex today for a remand application related to investigations into a corruption case linked to an army procurement tender cartel. The three individuals reached the court compound at 10 am in vehicles belonging to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, all three were wearing orange MACC lock-up attire and were escorted into the court complex by MACC officers. They had been detained the previous day at 7 pm after providing statements at the MACC headquarters.
On December 23, MACC officers visited the Defence Ministry to focus on projects executed through open tender procurement methods, as well as procurements managed under the Army's Responsibility Centre. This investigation is part of a broader probe into alleged irregularities within the army procurement process.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, MACC remanded 17 company directors suspected of involvement in the army procurement tender cartel network. This move is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the suspected cartel and address corruption within the procurement processes.
