Shah alam: Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin tonight graced the opening of the "Majlis Puisi Dirgahayu Tuanku" poetry recital, organised by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) through the Institution of Malay Rulers Chair and UiTM Office for the Empowerment of the Nobility. The event underscores respect and loyalty to the Malay Rulers, who safeguard the nation's sovereignty.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event is organised in collaboration with the National Poets Association of Malaysia (PEMUISI) and aims to elevate poetry as a medium for patriotic expression, enhance appreciation for Malay cultural heritage, and instill love for the Royal Institution among the younger generation and the wider populace.

UiTM vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin, in his welcome address, highlighted that the event reflects UiTM's dedication to empowering the understanding and appreciation of the Malay Royal Institution through a cultured and knowledge-based approach. He emphasized UiTM's historical role as a public university that upholds the Malay Rulers Institution as the cornerstone of national unity and stability.

"This event is not just a literary occasion, but a conduit for intellectual and cultural awareness, showcasing the historical relationship between the people and the Ruler," he stated. UiTM's commitment is to produce graduates who excel in knowledge and skills while being deeply rooted in cultural understanding and respect for the Malay Royal Institution.

He also mentioned that the Institution of Malay Rulers Chair, the main organiser, serves as a platform to study and disseminate knowledge related to the Royal Institution from historical, constitutional, and cultural perspectives. Meanwhile, the UiTM Office for the Empowerment of the Nobility focuses on instilling national values and etiquette among university staff through various heritage-based programmes.

During the event, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin launched the book 'Antologi Puisi Dirgahayu Tuanku,' published by PEMUISI. The gathering also saw the attendance of prominent figures such as the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, PEMUISI president Datuk Dr Radzuan Ibrahim @ Wanrazuhar, and MBI Selangor group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M Yusop.
