Data Centre Graft: MACC To Call Up 20 More Witnesses

Johor: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is set to interview 20 additional witnesses as part of its ongoing investigation into the corruption case surrounding a data centre construction project tender in Johor, valued at approximately RM180 million. Currently, statements have been recorded from 12 individuals related to the investigation, according to MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, three suspects remain under remand, including the project manager of a construction company and two company directors. A female suspect was released on Sunday, July 20, after her remand order ended. Datuk Zainul Darus confirmed that no new arrests have been made in connection with the case.

The media reported earlier about a project manager from a prominent construction company who allegedly attempted to destroy evidence by burning nearly RM1 million in cash after a MACC raid, known as Op Ways, took place on Thursday, July 17. During the raid at his home in Petaling Jaya, officers discovered RM100 banknotes in flames, almost totaling RM1 million.

Further inspection of the premises led to the discovery of approximately RM7.5 million in cash stored in pillow boxes, along with luxury items such as three Rolex, Omega, and Cartier watches, as well as rings and gold coins. The MACC Investigation Division also arrested a contract manager, his wife, and two other men aged between 40 and 60 in the Klang Valley, all believed to be involved in the corruption case linked to the data centre construction project tender.
