Selangor: The COVID-19 situation in Selangor experienced a 36 percent increase in cases, rising to 1,082 cases in Epidemiological Week (ME) 24/2025 as compared to 795 cases in the previous week. Despite the rise in cases, State Public Health and Environment Exco Jamaliah Jamaluddin stated that the numbers remain below the warning level set based on the trends observed in Selangor from 2022 to 2024, and no deaths have been reported.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, from ME 1 to ME 24 of 2025, ending June 14, Selangor recorded a total of 7,582 COVID-19 cases, which is a decrease from the 18,231 cases recorded in the same period in 2024. Jamaliah highlighted the distribution of cases across districts, noting that Petaling district had the highest number of cases at 2,475, followed by Hulu Langat with 1,435 cases, Klang with 974 cases, and other districts including Gombak, Sepang, Kuala Selangor, Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor, and Sabak Bernam.
The Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) findings indicated that adults aged 31 to 59 years are the most frequently infected group, comprising 44 percent of the cases, followed by youth aged 18 to 30 years at 27 percent, and children aged one to six years at nine percent.
Jamaliah further commented that in 2025, 7,582 individuals underwent COVID-19 screening tests, with 353 people requiring admission to the ward for further treatment. Notably, during ME24, a pregnant patient who was also infected with dengue fever was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but was later transferred to a regular ward on June 17.
