Kuantan: A cooking oil supplier has admitted guilt at the Sessions Court for submitting false information concerning the sale of controlled goods two years ago. Edge Shipping Resources Sdn Bhd, represented by its director Abdul Rahman Ahmad, 78, entered the guilty plea before Judge Wan Noor Aisah Mohamed.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the company was accused of submitting 42 falsified documents, specifically invoices or ‘cash sales’ receipts, to Pasar Mini Setali for the supply of scheduled controlled items, specifically cooking oil. This submission was a requirement set by the assistant supply controller.
The alleged offence took place at the Rural Growth Centre in Kampung Soi, Jalan Pantai Sepat, on November 1, 2023. The company has been charged under Subsection 8(4)(b) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and faces penalties under Subsection 22(2) of the same Act.
The potential consequences for the company include a maximum fine of RM2 million. In the case of second or subsequent offences, the fine could increase to RM5 million. However, lawyer Ahmad Faizzuddin Fatahai Ariffin has requested a new trial date to rehear the case’s facts and sentencing.
The judge has scheduled the continuation of the hearing for August 8.
