KUALA TERENGGANU: A contractor has reportedly lost RM135,505 to a fraudulent online investment syndicate after being lured into a non-existent scheme. The victim, a 60-year-old man from Chendering, was targeted through a WhatsApp communication with a woman who promised substantial returns through the so-called Golden Crimson Bonus investment scheme.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Kuala Terengganu district police chief, ACP Azli Mohd Noor, stated that the victim made 11 transactions during the initial phase of the scheme. These transactions, totaling RM135,505, were directed to four different accounts as instructed by the suspect. Despite the assurances of lucrative returns, the victim received nothing and subsequently filed a police report.
Authorities are currently investigating the case, highlighting the growing threat of online investment scams. Victims are often enticed with promises of high returns, only to find themselves defrauded of their savings. The police are urging the public to exercise caution and thoroughly verify any investment opportunities before committing funds.
