Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) thwarted an attempt by 13 foreigners posing as newly arrived passengers to get through the Immigration Department (JIM) inspection at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 (T2).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the AKPS reported that the group, consisting of eight men and one woman from India and four Pakistani men, attempted to re-enter the inspection line after being directed to undergo further scrutiny at the JIM operations office. This was part of a broader examination that included 270 foreigners.
The AKPS statement revealed that the individuals changed their attire in the transit area, aiming to mislead the authorities by masquerading as newly arrived visitors. The agency credited the success in intercepting the group to the vigilance and prompt action of the AKPS security team, which identified their suspicious behavior before they could bypass Immigration controls.
To prevent similar incidents, the AKPS announced plans to enhance surveillance in the transit area. This includes increasing the frequency of patrols, utilizing closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera monitoring, and implementing stricter checking procedures.
The AKPS urged all parties operating at KLIA to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to safeguard the security and integrity of Malaysia’s entry points.
