15 McDonald’s Restaurants Earmarked As Stopovers For KMJG 2025 Convoy

Melaka: In conjunction with this year’s National Month, McDonald’s Malaysia is embracing patriotism by participating in various ‘Merdeka’ (Independence) initiatives, including the 2025 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) convoy, which kicked off on Sunday (July 27).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, McDonald’s Malaysia senior vice-president and chief impact officer Melati Abdul Hai announced that 15 McDonald’s restaurants would serve as stopover locations for the motorcycle convoy, which will travel to 88 selected areas nationwide. She highlighted that the company joined the Communications Ministry-organised programme to partake in the celebration, which holds significant meaning for Malaysia and its citizens. This initiative aims to enhance the spirit of the Jalur Gemilang and bring joy to all Malaysians.

“As a brand that has grown together with the people of Malaysia for the past 43 years, we believe that the National Day celebration is a pivotal moment for us to be united, celebrate diversity and express our love for the country. As such, McDonald’s Malaysia joined this initiative to play a bigger role as a local company, making our restaurants a place for Malaysians to further strengthen the spirit of patriotism and togetherness by celebrating independence,” she told reporters after the 2025 KMJG Programme at the Batu Berendam McDonald’s Restaurant.

The programme was officiated by state Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Allex Seah Shoo Chin, also the Kesidang state assemblyman. Melati detailed that the KMJG convoy’s journey began at McDonald’s Kluang in Johor on Monday (July 28), with its second stop at the Batu Berendam McDonald’s, before its final destination at the Pantai Sentral Park McDonald’s Drive-Thru in Kuala Lumpur on August 16.

She announced that a range of independence-themed activities are planned at all the designated stopover restaurants, including the distribution of free Jalur Gemilang, Merdeka edition drive-thru stickers, special Merdeka edition food vouchers, free McDonald’s Sunday cones, interactive activities with families, and National Day-themed restaurant decorations.

“McDonald’s Malaysia is also pleased to invite all Malaysians to celebrate the ‘Ambang Merdeka’ celebration at Putrajaya Precinct 2 McDonald’s Drive-Thru from Aug 29-31. For a meaningful and fitting finale, McDonald’s Malaysia will also take part in the 2025 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya, besides distributing 50,000 free food vouchers and 2,500 limited ‘Mekdi’-edition prizes to visitors,” she added.

Throughout July and August, McDonald’s Malaysia is providing free meals to all uniformed personnel across its more than 370 restaurants nationwide as an appreciation for their invaluable service in maintaining peace and security for the welfare of the people.

On July 27, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially flagged off the 2025 KMJG convoy at Dataran Tanjung Emas in Muar, Johor, marking the start of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 celebrations.
