Aim Higher, Continue To Raise Performance And Integrity – PM Anwar

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reminded Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) personnel and other enforcement agencies not to be easily satisfied with their achievements, but to continue improving their performance, efficiency, and integrity as pillars in service delivery.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that although Malaysia has recorded encouraging economic growth and positive signs such as the strengthening of the ringgit, these achievements alone are insufficient to elevate the country's dignity and position to a higher level. He highlighted the country's potential for greater capability, noting that while many serve with distinction, some individuals continue to tarnish the country's integrity.

"There is still room for improvement. Some still tarnish not only our image but also seize the opportunity to mar and weaken our capability to achieve the best result possible," he remarked duri ng the 44th International Customs Day celebration. Anwar stressed the need for a change of attitude and a willingness to adopt new realities, citing these as essential for ensuring Malaysia's progress in a competitive economic era.

The Prime Minister mentioned that for the country to achieve more convincing growth and progress, particularly in the economy, there must be a positive change in attitude and readiness to accept new realities, alongside enhanced efficiency and integrity. He urged civil servants to recognize that there is always room for improvement in their service to the nation.

Anwar also referenced the teachings of Nabi Muhammad SAW, emphasizing the obligation to perform tasks to the best of one's ability as a guideline for improving work efficiency and performance. Furthermore, he expressed his appreciation for the outstanding achievements of all enforcement agencies, particularly the JKDM, which recorded a revenue collection of RM76.18 billion last year, sur passing the Ministry of Finance's target of RM67.25 billion.
