Kota Kinabalu: The agreement between the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Sabah Education Department (JPN) under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is poised to bring a positive impact on the state’s education sector. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek emphasized that the agreement is designed to enhance administrative efficiency and empower the State Education Department to address educational issues at the local level more effectively.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina highlighted the importance of incorporating Sabah’s cultural identity as a significant change in strengthening interaction. She expressed optimism that with strong commitments at both federal and state levels, along with robust leadership within the education system, Sabah can improve the quality of education in the state. She shared these insights with reporters following the State Leadership Gathering at Dewan Sekolah Menengah Kian Kok.
The gathering also saw the presence of Education Director-General Azman Adnan and Sabah Science, Innovation and Technology Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif. On November 14 of the previous year, Fadhlina had announced that the Education Ministry agreed to integrate Sabah’s cultural identity into the national curriculum and education policy. This move, alongside granting the Sabah government greater flexibility and autonomy in using disaster relief allocations, aims to address actual needs and urgencies more effectively.
