Kuala Lumpur: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has requested additional information in the investigation papers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) involving former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that the investigation papers were initially submitted to the AGC on January 15.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the IGP stated that the investigation papers were returned pending the completion of forensic reports. The police launched an investigation under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. This was in relation to Khairy’s statement about purported additional documents that allegedly permitted former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to serve the rest of his prison term under house arrest.
Khairy’s statement was taken on January 13 by the Special Crime Investigation Unit of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department at Studio Keluar Sekejap in Bukit Damansara. Prior to this, on January 10, Datuk Suraya Yaacob and Nor Azrina Surip, political secretaries to ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department, filed police reports against Khairy in Putrajaya and Sentul, respectively.
The police reports by Suraya and Nor Azrina alleged that Khairy’s statements involving the two ministers were false, defamatory, misleading, and caused public distress, with potential implications for national security.
