Johor bahru: A total of 1,195 schools across Johor implemented the state-level Anti-Bullying Campaign simultaneously today to ensure schools are free from bullying and safe for learning and the character-building of students. State Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin stated that this initiative is a part of the Johor Safe Zone project aimed at ensuring the state remains peaceful, safe, and prosperous for the future generation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aznan Tamin emphasized the collective effort behind this campaign, highlighting the unity among the state government, agencies, departments, teaching staff, and students. He mentioned on Facebook that the initiative serves to raise awareness that “bullying is not a Johor culture.” Tamin also urged all residents of Johor to continue their collaboration with the state government to address and eradicate the bullying culture.
Recently, the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, encouraged the people in the state to work alongside the government in combating bullying. He also advocated for stricter enforcement measures to ensure that all educational institutions remain safe spaces for children. In support of this mission, the Johor government has established a 24-hour Bullying Complaint Hotline at 03-88849325 and a WhatsApp line at 014-8009325 to facilitate easier reporting of bullying incidents.
