Rio de janeiro: YTL Power International Bhd has invested about RM10 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) and AI infrastructure to date and encourages Malaysian companies to invest in AI and leverage the infrastructure. YTL Power is a subsidiary of YTL Corporation Bhd.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yeoh Keong Hann, executive director of YTL Power International Bhd, highlighted the company’s investment in data centres, which are among the world’s largest data centre parks. The investments also include graphics processing units (GPUs) and a large language model. He emphasized that the company has 200 megawatts operational capacity, with the potential to expand to 600 megawatts. The data centres host the world’s largest hyperscalers and have a partnership with NVIDIA, featuring GPU chips and the world’s fastest chips, the GB200 Blackwell chips, which will soon be operational in Malaysia.
Yeoh stated that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recognizes the significance of AI and AI technology for Malaysia and has encouraged the company to explore further investments. He expressed gratitude for the government’s support and the opportunity to be part of the official delegation, which allowed the company to engage with global counterparts in Paris, Rome, and Rio de Janeiro, sharing insights and potentially exporting their expertise and technology worldwide.
Yeoh also announced YTL Power’s upcoming debut of Malaysia’s large language model (LLM), ILMU 1.0, and Ryt Bank, the country’s first AI-powered digital bank. YTL Power International Bhd was part of the Malaysian delegation on official visits aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and boosting trade and economic cooperation. Other participants included major Malaysian companies such as Petroliam Nasional Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Malayan Banking Bhd, FGV Holdings Bhd, and Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
