Weststar Maxus and Yinson Greentech Sign Agreement for 300 Electric Vans

Kuala lumpur: Weststar Maxus Sdn Bhd and Yinson GreenTech's e-mobility business, drivEV, today entered into a strategic agreement for the acquisition of 300 units of the Maxus eDeliver 5 electric commercial van. The partnership marks a significant step in the advancement of electric mobility solutions in the commercial sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the agreement was finalized at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, hosted at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The event was attended by notable figures including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, SAIC Maxus Automotive Co Ltd president Yang Haijing, Weststar Group managing director Tan Sri Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim, and Yinson Holdings Bhd Group executive chairman Lim Han Weng.

Weststar Maxus, the authorized distributor of Maxus vehicles in Malaysia, is a key player in the automotive market, with the Maxus brand being entirely owned by SAIC Motor Corp Ltd, a major automotive manufacturer based in Shanghai, China. Syed Muhammad Ammar, CEO of Weststar Maxus, emphasized that the agreement underscores the companies' dedication to promoting the electrification of commercial vehicles. He highlighted the Maxus eDeliver 5 as a future-oriented logistics solution, enhancing sustainable mobility for businesses.

Kelvin Soon, managing director of electric vehicle (EV) charging and leasing at Yinson GreenTech, stated that the collaboration aims to facilitate the transition of fleet operators to electric vehicles through leasing and charging options. He noted Yinson GreenTech's expertise in providing comprehensive EV leasing, smart charging infrastructure, and digital fleet intelligence solutions, which aid in achieving sustainable last-mile delivery in the logistics sector.

The Maxus eDeliver 5, a key component of the partnership, features a 64-kilowatt-hour battery that offers a driving range of up to 335 kilometers under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) standard and supports a payload capacity of up to 1,200 kilograms. Following the signing, Weststar Maxus showcased various models at KLIMS 2026, including the Maxus eDeliver 5, Maxus T60 facelifted diesel pickup, Terron 9 pickup, eTerron 9 electric pickup, and V90 Window Van.
