Pulau indah: Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Westports) and Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (CSSB) joined forces to conduct a Dengue Prevention Gotong-Royong Programme in Pulau Indah, Selangor, addressing the rise in dengue cases in the area.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, CSSB stated that the programme aims to enhance public awareness of maintaining cleanliness to curb the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, which are responsible for spreading dengue. The event commenced at 8 am and was inaugurated by CSSB’s head of finance and investment, Amran Abdul Wahab, alongside Westports security department manager Rosman Mohd Yunus. The cleanup targeted areas around Jalan Perigi Nenas 8/4, 8/5, and 8/6, which are in proximity to industrial areas and accommodations for foreign workers.
Amran highlighted in his address that dengue poses not only a health risk but also a social challenge that necessitates collective action. He emphasized the importance of community involvement and inter-agency cooperation in addressing the issue. ‘The presence of community members and various agencies today demonstrates our shared concern and commitment to safeguard the well-being of Pulau Indah,’ he remarked.
CSSB further noted that this gotong-royong initiative is part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) endeavors aimed at fostering a healthy and safe community in Pulau Indah. The statement mentioned that aside from the cleanup, the event also featured other activities like ‘sukaneka’ to engage participants.
The programme saw participation from CSSB and Westports staff, government agencies, partner organisations, and local residents. It was also attended by Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) councillor Mohd Fauzi Othman, MBDK health director Azmi Muji, and Klang district health vector-borne disease control unit head, Dr. P.
