Kuala lumpur: A total of RM3.5 million has been raised so far under the 2025/2026 Warriors Fund Campaign, surpassing its initial target of RM3 million, said the campaign's patron Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. The wife of the Prime Minister stated that the amount was collected through contributions from various parties since the welfare campaign was launched in August last year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Wan Azizah highlighted the importance of continuous donations to keep up with the rising costs and the growing needs of the veterans. She emphasized the necessity for ongoing contributions to support the welfare of Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans, whose needs increase with age.
Dr Wan Azizah urged the public to maintain their support and focus on the well-being of ATM veterans, acknowledging the services they have rendered to the country. She reminded the public of the comfort and peace enjoyed as a result of the veterans' sacrifices and stressed the importance of recognising and appreciating their contributions.
At the My Warriors Run 2026 charity event, Dr Wan Azizah expressed gratitude for the backing from various sectors, including the corporate world and media practitioners, which has been instrumental in raising public awareness. The event saw participation from 3,000 individuals from different backgrounds, further contributing to the fundraising efforts for the Warriors Fund Campaign.
The seven-kilometre run, themed around togetherness and appreciation, commenced and concluded at Dataran DBKL. It covered routes around the city centre, including Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Dang Wangi, and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
The campaign is a significant initiative of the government and the ATM Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV) aimed at generating welfare funds to support ATM veterans and their families in need.
