Upgrading Project for Melor-Ketereh to Kampung Pak Badol Route Completed

Kota bharu: The upgrading of the route from Melor-Ketereh junction to Kampung Pak Badol has been completed, as announced by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. The project, which spans 3.3 km, began on November 3, 2020, and concluded on June 28, at a total cost of RM195 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this road upgrading project is part of the government’s commitment under the 11th Malaysia Plan to enhance the federal road network nationwide, with a particular focus on the East Coast region. Nanta highlighted that the RM195 million project was executed through the Public Works Department’s internal conventional method, adhering to both the scheduled timeline and required engineering standards.

The upgraded stretch completes the connection to the route from Kota Bharu to Pekan Melor, which had previously been upgraded to a four-lane dual carriageway of R5 standard. Nanta emphasized the significance of this route as a vital component of the land transport system, linking key areas in Kelantan and Terengganu. The project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the district and serve as a catalyst for improved regional connectivity, faster daily commutes, enhanced social activities, and economic growth. Additionally, plans are in place to extend the FT003 route by another six kilometres to Pasir Puteh at a future cost of RM169 million.

Nanta underscored the broader implications of road infrastructure, stating that roads symbolize progress, connect communities, and drive sustainable regional development. He referenced the MADANI principle, which emphasizes building infrastructure that not only functions effectively but also enriches people’s lives, bridges development disparities, and reflects a strong commitment to the well-being and unity of the population.

In light of recent claims circulating on social media, Nanta addressed and refuted rumors that motorcyclists would be charged tolls starting in October. He urged the public not to spread such false information, as it could impact the community negatively. He assured that no such measure has been proposed and that the reports are inaccurate.
