UDA Contributes RM60,000 to Support 200 Asnaf Students in Johor

Johor Bahru: UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) has stepped forward to aid 200 asnaf students from 10 schools in Johor by providing RM60,000 in zakat wakalah for the purchase of school supplies. This initiative is part of the UDA Cares Back to School 2025@South programme, which allocates RM300 to each student to acquire necessary supplies at Angsana Johor Bahru Mall.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UDA Acting President and Chief Executive Officer Zahrin Zakaria emphasized that the programme is a corporate social responsibility effort aimed at enhancing the well-being of the local community, particularly the Bumiputera. He expressed hope that the assistance would inspire students and alleviate the financial burden on their families as they prepare for the new school year. The programme launch was attended by UDA Investment and Property Management Senior Vice President Mohd Nazri Jamiran, Angsana Johor Bahru Mall Chief Operating Officer Imran Salleh, and UDA Land (South) Sdn Bhd Chief Operating Officer Ismail Dasuki.

The targeted schools fall under UDA’s development region and include Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Danga, SK Kompleks UDA, SK UDA 2, SK Kampung Pasir, SK Pengkalan Rinting, SK Tasek Utara, SK Taman Cempaka, SK Seri Kenanga, SK Seri Melati, and SK Perumahan Tampoi 2. Zahrin highlighted UDA’s commitment to sustainability by focusing on social and economic initiatives that align with its new branding principles of ‘L.I.F.E’ (Legacy, Integrated, Finesse, and Enrich).

He also noted that similar initiatives were conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives last December, benefiting 102 students in Sandakan, Sabah, and 200 students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Bahaman in Lanchang, Pahang.

SK Kompleks UDA headmistress Rafidah Mohd Yussup acknowledged the relief the initiative provides to parents in purchasing school supplies, expressing hope for its continuation. SK Seri Kenanga headmaster Souib Hamad expressed the school’s honor in being selected, noting that many pupils come from low-income families. He praised UDA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the underprivileged.
