Topcon Launches First Southeast Asia Training Hub In Shah Alam

Shah alam: Topcon Positioning Asia (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Topcon Malaysia) has launched its first Southeast Asia training centre, Topcon Malaysia Training Centre (TMTC), a strategic investment to drive digital transformation in the construction and infrastructure sector in the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the training centre, which will be incorporating advanced systems in its curriculum, aims to modernise local workforce capabilities. This initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s goals outlined in the Construction 4.0 strategic plan, said Topcon Malaysia director Vincent Lai.

“We look forward to collaborating with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and technical institutions that share our commitment to positioning Malaysia as a regional leader in smart construction. With your continued support, we will elevate industry standards, drive innovation, and build a resilient, technology-driven future for the built environment,” he said in his speech at the TMTC official opening ceremony.

The event was attended by Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Exco, Ng Sze Han, Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Noriyuki Shikata, and Topcon Corporation president Takashi Eto. Ng highlighted the importance of TMTC in building a competitive and high-performing talent ecosystem in Malaysia, with Selangor leading the way in strengthening relations between Selangor and Japan.

Ng stated that Selangor has maintained its leadership in fostering a thriving business environment, with 75.9 per cent of Japanese companies in the state reporting profitability, surpassing the national average. He noted that out of more than 1,600 Japanese companies operating in Malaysia, 696 are based in Selangor, including industry giants such as Panasonic, Toyota, Hitachi, and NTT.

“This concentration of global businesses in Selangor not only boosts our economy but also drives innovation and job creation,” Ng added.

Based in Shah Alam, TMTC is established to meet the needs of engineers, surveyors, machine operators, site supervisors, public-sector technical teams, as well as vocational and technical students by offering hands-on training facilities that focus on land surveying and construction. Its comprehensive training modules cover digital construction technology, including practical training in measurements, machine control, 3D site modelling, and data management using Topcon’s latest software and hardware.

The training also integrates advanced positioning technologies such as the Global Navigation Satellite System into real-world construction workflows to help professionals improve accuracy and operational efficiency.
