Kuala lumpur: Ministry of Education (MOE) members are advised not to join motivational programmes, organised by external entities, that do not have clear content. Its minister, Fadhlina Sidek, emphasized the importance of consulting the ministry for appropriate support instead.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina Sidek expressed concerns about teachers participating in motivational programmes with content that lacks clarity and substance. She advised educators to concentrate on issues at the school level, especially following reports about the marriage motivation programme (eHATI) targeting working women facing household crises.
Fadhlina highlighted that the MOE provides various development and motivational programmes for teachers, including counselling services, that should be fully utilised. She cautioned against involvement in programmes that might raise doubts or compromise the integrity of the teaching profession. “We provide many internal development programmes. Therefore, my advice is to be careful. Avoid participating in inappropriate external programmes. Focus on motivation in our education,” she stated.
This caution comes in light of recent developments where Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed an inquiry into the eHATI programme, accused of promoting inappropriate and provocative content. Investigations include allegations about the use of water that supposedly induces hallucinations, with several witnesses expected to be called for confirmation.
Meanwhile, Fadhlina reiterated the MOE’s commitment to maintaining safe and conducive learning environments in schools. She assured that maintenance assistance is provided annually, and larger structural needs are referred to the Public Works Department (JKR) and related agencies. She emphasized the urgency of addressing any structural concerns, underscoring the importance of a safe teaching environment.
Fadhlina affirmed that the MOE, along with the District Education Office and the State Education Department, remains uncompromising on the safety of school buildings and is dedicated to taking immediate action against any structural issues.
