Kuala lumpur: The Talian Kasih 15999 hotline has received 9,327 calls related to domestic violence cases from 2022 up to May this year, revealed Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Lim Hui Ying. This statistic is part of a larger pool of 127,000 calls concerning various social and welfare issues recorded during the same timeframe.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Lim highlighted that all domestic violence complaints from 2022 to 2025 have been fully resolved. In the first five months of this year alone, 470 calls were logged, with 406 cases resolved and 64 cases still under action. Lim shared these details during the Minister's Question time in Parliament, addressing a query from Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (PN-Sungai Besar) regarding the efficiency of the Talian Kasih hotline and the follow-up intervention rate.
Lim explained that follow-up actions to ensure victim safety include assistance in obtaining an Emergency Protection Order (EPO), an Interim Protection Order (IPO), or placement in a secure shelter. She also noted an emerging trend where domestic violence is not confined to female victims but is increasingly involving male victims as well. Although the number of male victims remains smaller, the trend signifies a notable shift. Lim emphasized that under the ministry's mandate, efforts are made to protect the welfare of all individuals, irrespective of race or gender, ensuring no prejudice in safeguarding measures.
