Kuala lumpur: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd (Takaful Malaysia) reported a net profit of RM88.83 million in the second quarter of 2026, an increase from RM83.82 million in the same period the previous year, with revenue rising to RM1.16 billion from RM1.01 billion.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, for the first half of 2026, Takaful Malaysia's net profit grew to RM189.80 million from RM178.35 million, while revenue increased to RM2.28 billion from RM2.13 billion the year before. This growth was primarily driven by higher contribution releases and increased demand for takaful coverage, which reflects the ongoing need for family protection solutions.
The takaful operator stated that the rise in revenue and profitability demonstrates the underlying strength of its core businesses, bolstered by continued growth in its family and general takaful operations, healthy contractual service margin releases, and higher net investment income. The company emphasized the resilience of its diverse business model and its disciplined approach to growth, profitability, and risk management amidst changing operating conditions.
Looking to the second half of 2026, Takaful Malaysia plans to leverage its strong business foundations for sustainable growth. It aims to capitalize on resilient economic fundamentals, the persistent protection gap, and increasing awareness of comprehensive financial protection needs among individuals, businesses, and institutions. The company will focus on expanding its retail segment through bancatakaful partnerships and advisory and regular-contribution products.
Takaful Malaysia also intends to enhance customer engagement via its digital platform, Kaotim, providing an alternative channel for customers to access takaful products easily and affordably. With Malaysia's relatively low takaful penetration rate, the company sees significant potential to meet the rising demand for affordable protection, financial planning, and medical coverage, while also strengthening its industry presence.
The group is planning to diversify its portfolio beyond motor takaful, identifying substantial growth opportunities in commercial and retail segments, particularly in asset protection. By focusing on these areas, Takaful Malaysia aims to accelerate growth and reinforce its position as a leading takaful provider in Malaysia.
Takaful Malaysia's group chief executive officer, Nor Azman Zainal, highlighted that the next growth phase would emphasize improving growth quality, deepening customer relationships, and creating greater value across the takaful ecosystem. The company plans to invest in its workforce, technology, products, and distribution capabilities while strengthening strategic partnerships. Digitalization remains a key enabler in making takaful more accessible and convenient for customers.
With a robust business model and strategic direction, Nor Azman affirmed that Takaful Malaysia is well positioned to seize emerging opportunities while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk management, aiming for sustainable long-term growth and value creation for customers, shareholders, and stakeholders.
