Shah alam: Police have arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the case of confining and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy at an apartment in Bukit Kemuning, Section 32, here last week. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar stated that the man, believed to be in his 40s, was apprehended on May 16 in a rented room in Kuala Lumpur.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, investigations revealed that the suspect was released from prison in April 2025 and is currently employed as a debt collector. Authorities are investigating whether the suspect's residence in Kuala Lumpur had been rented for an extended period or only recently. It is suspected that he may have moved there from Shah Alam, where the incident occurred. This detail is yet to be confirmed, as stated by Datuk Shazeli during a press conference on the achievements of the state's Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) at the Selangor contingent police headquarters.
Shazeli also mentioned that urine screening results showed the suspect tested negative for drugs. The suspect is remanded until tomorrow to assist in the investigation. On May 12, reports emerged of a teenage boy alleging confinement, abuse, and suspected sexual assault by an unknown man at an apartment in Bukit Kemuning.
Initial police investigations indicated that the suspect lured the victim by inviting him to chat and offering a mobile internet package, provided the teenager helped carry items at the suspect's residence. Shah Alam police chief ACP Ramsay Embol reported that the suspect has a prior criminal record, including rape, robbery, and confining a woman, with a conviction in 2008.
