Sultan Sharafuddin Directs JAIS to Verify Preachers’ Accreditation in Selangor.

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has been directed to ensure that all Islamic preachers invited to the state, especially those addressing topics related to aqidah (faith), syariah (Islamic law), tasawwuf (Sufism), and tariqa (spiritual paths), receive accreditation from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Accreditation Committee.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, emphasized that this measure aims to prevent the dissemination of incorrect knowledge and interpretations by individuals who lack a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter or who have learned from unqualified or unaccredited sources. The Sultan highlighted the importance of providing proper understanding through religious agencies or institutions engaged in the authentic teaching of Islam.

In his address at the Multaqa Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj event, themed ‘Ilmu Tasawuf Merungkai Masalah Ummah’, Sultan Sharafuddin proposed the establis
hment of guidelines, a special curriculum, or specific regulations concerning the practice of Sufism and tariqa in Selangor. He expressed confidence that true understanding and practice would positively impact the character development of the ummah in Malaysia. The event was also attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Sultan Sharafuddin also expressed his regret regarding some Muslims who, lacking expertise in Islamic jurisprudence, have questioned and disputed fatwas issued by the Selangor State Fatwa Committee. He explained that the fatwa issuance process involves careful consideration of opinions from multiple parties, particularly the Selangor State Fatwa Committee and Islamic law experts, before approval and gazetting. He urged those who frequently question fatwas to seek understanding and clarification from religious authorities.

During the event, the Selangor ruler launched the Selangor Fatwa and Falak Journal (JUFFAS), the Taudhih Al-Ahkam System, and the Selangor e-Falak Syst
em under the Selangor Mufti Department. JUFFAS aims to be a platform for scholarly publications, offering research and writings that provide new perspectives on addressing the ummah’s challenges. The Taudhih Al-Ahkam System serves as an effective medium for public interaction and inquiries about Islamic law with the Selangor Mufti Department. Additionally, the e-Falak app facilitates community access to accurate information on Qibla direction, prayer times, and Hijri calendar dates.
