Manong: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, today inaugurated the Sultan Muzzaffar Shah Bridge at Dataran Manong, marking a significant development for the region. The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Sultan Nazrin and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, who arrived at 11 am, accompanied by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and his wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin. The event was also attended by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Public Works Department (JKR) director-general Datuk Roslan Ismail.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nanta highlighted in his speech that the 300-metre-long Sultan Muzzaffar Shah Bridge, along with a three-kilometre connecting road, now links Pekan Manong and Kampung Seberang Manong. This infrastructure reunites two communities that were once separated by a river. He emphasized how the bridge not only enhances mobility for the residents but also strengthens community ties. Moreover, it is expected to stimulate growth in the tourism, trade, and agriculture sectors, opening up more economic opportunities for the residents in the surrounding areas.
Nanta pointed out that the bridge represents a symbol of well-planned progress, showcasing the commitment of both the federal and state governments, aligned with the Malaysia MADANI spirit. This spirit is dedicated to upholding humanitarian values, sustainability, well-being, and social justice. He also extended his appreciation to all who contributed to the successful construction of the bridge.
Expressing optimism about the future, Nanta stated his belief that through cooperation between the federal and state governments, more high-impact development projects could be implemented in Perak Darul Ridzuan for the benefit of its people. The Sultan Muzzaffar Shah Bridge, part of the 11th Malaysia Plan, was completed on October 25, 2019, at a cost of more than RM37 million.
