Sultan Ibrahim Emphasizes Integrity in Federal Awards: “Titles Not For Sale”

Kuala Lumpur: His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, affirmed that federal awards of orders, stars, and medals are granted based on merit and service, not for sale or through lobbying. These honors are reserved for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the government and the nation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sultan Ibrahim highlighted that the government has set criteria for consideration, yet he personally reviews each candidate. His Majesty emphasized that only those who have significantly contributed to the government or enhanced the nation’s prestige should receive such accolades. He acknowledged that only a few meet these stringent standards annually and dismissed any lobbying efforts.

“The titles of Datuk and Tan Sri are not for sale. If you have a lot of money, do charity, help the poor and needy,” declared Sultan Ibrahim. He urged the recipients of these titles to value and take pride in their awards.

The King made these remarks during the 2025 investiture ceremony, part of his official birthday celebration at Istana Negara. The event was attended by Her Majesty, Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Minister of Communications Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and other Cabinet Ministers.

Additionally, Sultan Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the nation for the continuous support and prayers he receives while fulfilling his role as the Head of State. He thanked all parties involved in the successful organization of his birthday celebrations and called for prayers for Malaysia’s continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
