Kuala lumpur: The Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur (SCEKL) 2025, scheduled from September 17 to 19, 2025, is set to revolve around four pivotal areas under the theme “AI Cities: Shaping Our Digital Futures”.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Digital Nasional Bhd’s head of Enterprise Strategy, Prem Kumar Menon, highlighted that the focal points include artificial intelligence (AI) cities, sustainable and resilient cities, digital entrepreneurship and economic development, and community empowerment through digital solutions. Menon emphasized the importance of integrating intelligence within city council applications to empower citizens and simplify their daily lives.
Menon, who also serves as the SCEKL 2025 secretariat head, explained that the event aims to spotlight entrepreneurial growth and innovations that are both locally developed and ready for international markets. The expo seeks to foster cross-collaborations between ASEAN and global companies, positioning Malaysia as a leader in setting standards and implementing these solutions effectively.
The SCEKL 2025 is anticipated to attract approximately 10,000 participants and 2,000 delegates, with 300 exhibitors from ASEAN countries presenting technology-driven solutions for sustainable urban environments. Additionally, the expo will coincide with the Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2025 and the SmartGov Malaysia Summit 2025.
The MDX Summit, co-organized by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the National Digital Department, will concentrate on five main areas: Next-Gen Data, Next-Gen Computing, Next-Gen Trust, Next-Gen Creativity, and Next-Gen Talent. The summit aims to showcase how Malaysia is leveraging technological advancements to benefit businesses, government services, and the regional economy.
In parallel, the SmartGov Malaysia 2025, themed “GovTech for the Future – Innovating Public Service Delivery”, will focus on enhancing Malaysia’s government technology framework and accelerating digital adoption in public services. It will emphasize AI for citizen-centric solutions, Big Data for trust and transparency, and Cloud Computing for agile and resilient public services.
