Sibu Traders Encouraged To Join Kedai MyKasih Programme

Sibu: Small-and medium-sized supermarkets and grocery stores in Sibu have been urged to register as partners of the Kedai MyKasih programme to broaden their market reach and boost their income. Sibu Member of Parliament Oscar Ling Chai Yew highlighted the advantages of joining the initiative, stating that traders would be able to offer low-income households, eligible for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), greater access to selected essential goods using their MyKad.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ling clarified that traders who sell at least 70 percent of the 14 categories of goods are eligible to apply to become Kedai MyKasih partners. The categories include white rice, beverages, bread, eggs, seasonings, toiletries, medicines, instant noodles, biscuits, flour, stationery, canned food, cooking oil, and household cleaning products.

Ling mentioned that his parliamentary service centre recently set up a mobile service counter in the town centre to assist local traders in registering as Kedai MyKasih partners. Although the number of traders registered has yet to meet the target, Ling emphasized the initiative as a crucial first step in raising public awareness about the programme’s benefits.

Traders who are interested can register at the Sibu DAP headquarters, where representatives will assist in submitting applications to the Ministry of Finance. Ling also noted that registered traders would receive a government-supplied point-of-sale (POS) system and barcode scanner.
