Seremban: Seremban's agricultural sector continued to perform well, recording a production value of RM45 million with total output reaching 14,671.27 tonnes last year. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the district has gazetted agricultural land of 40,187.16 hectares, planted with vegetable and fruit crops such as coconuts, melons, and durians. He said Seremban is also one of the key districts contributing to Negeri Sembilan's economy.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aminuddin highlighted Seremban's positive growth in the agro-based industry, with 91 active entrepreneurs generating RM12 million in production value during the same period. Nearly 32,000 customers received advisory services from the Seremban district agriculture office. Of these entrepreneurs, 25 have obtained halal, MESTI, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certifications, with several companies becoming examples of successful local entrepreneurship.
Aminuddin announced that the government has allocated development funding to three agro-based industry entrepreneurs this year: RM27,550 for product processing automation, RM10,000 for halal certification incentives, and RM34,399 for upgrading processing workshops. He stated that this initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to improving productivity and strengthening local entrepreneurs' competitiveness to penetrate broader markets.
He emphasized the need to strengthen the agricultural sector as a modern, profitable, and high-technology industry to attract more young people. This would help boost the economy, strengthen food security, and stabilize the cost of living. He urged the public to continue supporting local products to help drive the state economy and boost the agricultural sector.
The two-day Agrofestival featured exhibitions by government departments and agencies, health screenings, nutrition briefings, skills courses, agricultural demonstrations, unity programmes, and sales of agro-based products from Seremban entrepreneurs.
