Selangor Government to Revamp Second Selangor Plan for Enhanced State Development

Selangor: The Selangor government has announced plans to review and enhance the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) within the next two years, aiming to align the state's development strategies with current needs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari emphasized that the review will incorporate the latest findings and structural changes, along with new programmes and projects to be integrated into RS-2. This decision stems from insights gained from the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), which highlighted areas needing rectification, such as expediting the monitoring framework and improving project implementation at the ground level.

Amirudin, speaking at the launch of RS-2, outlined that the economic plan, set for 2026-2030, aims to achieve an economic value of RM600 billion. The launch event was attended by prominent figures including Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin and members of the Selangor State Executive Council.

The Menteri Besar noted that 79 per cent of initiatives from RS-1 were successfully achieved and are currently in various stages of implementation. The remaining initiatives will roll over into RS-2, focusing on projects like the Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA) and the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS).

Amirudin highlighted that the Selangor Plan (RS) could serve as a regional development model, as its approach differs from the broader Malaysia Plan by concentrating on state government-linked companies, local authorities, and district levels.

RS-2 outlines six missions, including economic leadership, balanced development, and sustainable governance, while focusing on sectors like electrical and electronics, aerospace, automotive, digital economy, and creative economy. An engagement session was also held to discuss the plan's direction with media practitioners.
