Kuala lumpur: The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) assistance for individuals in the single category, which commenced distribution today, is deemed relevant and offers direct benefits to a large segment of the population, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MOHA highlighted that data from the National Registration Department (JPN) revealed a substantial portion of Malaysia's adult population fits within this category. The assistance is intended to aid single individuals, especially youths impacted by the rising cost of living, whether they are starting their careers, self-employed, or earning low incomes.
The statement from MOHA emphasized the initiative as a demonstration of the MADANI Government's commitment to addressing public concerns in an inclusive and humane manner. MOHA advised recipients to use the assistance wisely, focusing on essential needs such as food, healthcare, and daily necessities, and to avoid unnecessary expenditure.
MOHA expressed hopes that the assistance would act as temporary support, enabling individuals to strive for self-reliance and a more stable future. The ministry also reiterated its support for the implementation of MADANI Government policies centered on compassion, social justice, and public well-being, ensuring aid is delivered transparently.
MOHA further stated that the MADANI Government views the well-being of the people as crucial to national stability and security, with a commitment to strengthening this foundation for a more prosperous Malaysia.
The SARA programme, offering Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) to 3.1 million eligible single individuals aged between 21 and 59, provides up to RM100 per month through the MyKad system.
