Kuala lumpur: Police have opened an investigation paper into Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim's claim that he signed an instrument of proclamation regarding the Yang di-Pertuan Besar against his will and under duress. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that further developments would be communicated if the investigation progresses.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the investigation paper is currently in progress. Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution remarked, "If there is any progress, as usual, we will share it with the media," during the Home Ministry's monthly assembly. Ismail Lasim had previously reported being coerced into signing the document, prompting him to lodge a police report on September 8 to facilitate an investigation.

It was earlier reported that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized the need for verification by the lawyers present during the signing to ascertain the validity of Ismail Lasim's claims. UMNO President also assured that the party would not interfere in the matter, showing full respect for the royal institution, laws, and customs of Negeri Sembilan.
