Saifuddin Nasution Denies Claims of Mass Citizenship Granting to Foreigners

Kuala lumpur: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has refuted allegations that the Home Ministry (KDN) has granted citizenship en masse to foreign nationals, specifically addressing claims concerning 1.2 million Chinese nationals supposedly remaining in Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution emphasized his repeated rejections of these claims, stating that he has consistently provided explanations backed by facts and official data. Despite this, certain parties continue to circulate videos, posters, and narratives that have already been corrected, aiming to confuse the public and incite racial tensions and hatred.

Saifuddin Nasution highlighted that the matter had been officially explained, with facts documented in prior statements and media reports. He expressed concern that such defamatory claims not only tarnish the reputation of individuals or institutions but also have the potential to undermine public confidence in state institutions, incite racial hatred, disrupt public order, and threaten national security.

He urged the public to cease spreading these claims and to refrain from exploiting sensitive issues for political interests or social media attention. Saifuddin Nasution also called on the public to verify the accuracy of information with official sources before accepting or sharing it, urging responsible use of social media, and emphasizing the importance of letting facts and data prevail over false claims.

The circulation of several posters alleging that the KDN had granted citizenship to foreigners en masse has been widespread on social media platforms.
