Seremban: A new Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban 2 (HTJ2) will be developed at a cost of RM600 million on a 13.35-hectare site near the Seremban Health Clinic in Jalan Rasah, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said today. The facility, set to offer at least 400 beds, will expand specialist services, including neurology and cardiology, to better serve the state’s growing population.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, with rapid population growth, the new hospital is considered a pressing priority. Aminuddin emphasized the need for immediate action to avoid facing serious healthcare infrastructure shortages within the next decade. This announcement was made following the state executive council meeting at Wisma Negeri.
Aminuddin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Port Dickson, noted that the current Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar is short 188 beds due to ongoing upgrades, placing significant strain on the existing healthcare system and affecting patients in need of timely care. Although HTJ2 has been listed under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), he urged the federal government to fast-track its approval to address these challenges.
The land for HTJ2 is already available and federally owned, eliminating the need for acquisition. Aminuddin suggested that construction can begin immediately once the allocation is confirmed, ideally under the 2026 Budget. Earlier this year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced RM40 billion in allocations for the health sector under the 13MP, which includes funding for HTJ2.
