Kuala lumpur: Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli will continue providing his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the RM1.1 billion investment case tomorrow. The former minister confirmed the matter with reporters outside the MACC headquarters after he finished giving his statement for nine hours today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rafizi stated, "I will resume tomorrow, only that I will begin at 2 pm." He explained that his statement was closely related to his functions as a minister, emphasizing that the documents examined in the investigation were related to ministerial matters classified as confidential. "All these documents were taken by MACC investigators, not me. Whatever they collect in the investigation is up to them, whether to refer it to me or otherwise," he added. Rafizi clarified that possessing these classified documents would put him in a difficult situation, as they are under the jurisdiction of the investigators.
In addition, MACC Senior Director of the Investigation Division Datuk Mohd Hafaz Nazar confirmed that Rafizi's statement recording session ended at about 7 pm. He noted that the statement recording will continue for a third day tomorrow, expected to take place in the afternoon.
Today marked the second day Rafizi was called in to assist in investigations related to alleged abuse of power and misappropriation in investment dealings. The case involves a strategic cooperation agreement in the semiconductor industry between the Ministry of Economy and Arm Holdings of the United Kingdom.
