RHB LEKAS Highway Ride Marks 10th Edition With 6,017 Cyclists

Kuala lumpur: The RHB LEKAS Highway Ride 2025 marked its 10th edition with 6,017 cyclists from 23 countries joining the night ride along the fully closed LEKAS E21 Highway. Jointly organised by RHB Banking Group (RHB) and Lebuhraya Kajang Seremban Sdn Bhd (LEKAS), a subsidiary of IJM Corporation Berhad, the event was flagged off by Malaysian Highway Authority Director General (LLM) Datuk Sazali Harun at the Kajang Selatan Toll Plaza at 7.45 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, RHB’s Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohamad highlighted the event’s 10th edition as a significant milestone for RHB. He stated that the event has evolved beyond just a cycling race, focusing on connecting communities, promoting healthier lifestyles, and creating lasting experiences. Datuk Mohd Rashid expressed RHB’s pride in being part of this journey and emphasized the ongoing partnership with LEKAS Highway, which brings together a diverse cycling community from across the region.

IJM Corporation Berhad Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Datuk Lee Chun Fai remarked on the event’s evolution into a meaningful tradition that unites riders from various backgrounds. He noted that the event, which began as an initiative to open the highway for cycling, now reflects the belief that highways can serve as spaces that connect people and promote active lifestyles. Datuk Lee also emphasized the milestone as a testament to the strong partnership with RHB and the commitment of the LEKAS team in ensuring a safe environment for participants.

The event featured Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) as the official medical partner, with medical teams on standby and the RHB-IJN Mobile Health Clinic providing health screenings, first aid, and wellness support along the route. Since 2022, the ride has drawn over 5,000 cyclists annually, positioning it among the largest mass-participation rides in the country. It achieved two Malaysia Book of Records in 2024 for the ‘Longest Distance on a Closed Highway’ (105 km) and ‘Largest Participation in a Highway Night Cycling Event.’

The route for this year’s ride covered a 44.3km dual carriageway between Kajang and Paroi, Negeri Sembilan, and included various categories such as the 105km Competitive Ride, 78km Ride, 17km Open Ride, and Youth Rides of 17km and 12km. The event transformed the highway into a car-free route for cyclists of all ages, celebrating a decade of growth since its inception.
