Rantau Panjang ICQS Complex Enhances Security with AI Scanners Amidst Infrastructure Challenges

Kuala lumpur: The Rantau Panjang Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Kelantan has been upgraded with two AI-powered scanning machines to improve the detection of contraband goods. Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah stated that while this technology allows for more efficient screening, there is still a shortfall in cargo scanner facilities due to existing infrastructure limitations, resulting in continued manual inspections.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Shamsul Anuar emphasized the government’s intention to address this gap by including the installation of cargo scanner systems in the Rantau Panjang ICQS Complex’s redevelopment plans. He confirmed that the government has approved RM65.4 million for land acquisition as part of this initiative. This announcement was made during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat, in response to a query from Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff regarding the ministry’s strategies to enhance the use of X-ray scanners and drug detection systems to combat smuggling activities at the Rantau Panjang border.
