Kepala batas: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has advised the cancellation of a rally scheduled in Bertam, Kepala Batas, Penang, to prevent potential clashes between opposing groups and safeguard the local community. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail emphasized the importance of public safety and well-being in light of the planned gathering.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PDRM has been closely monitoring the situation surrounding the rally planned for August 14, 2025, in Bertam, Kepala Batas. The police’s decision comes amid concerns over public safety, following an incident involving the Jalur Gemilang being hoisted upside down, which went viral recently.

Inspector-General Mohd Khalid stated that the investigation covers actions against individuals who recorded and disseminated the video, which falls under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
The investigation papers have been submitted to the Penang Public Prosecutor’s Office and are currently under review. Mohd Khalid reassured the public that PDRM is committed to conducting the investigation transparently, with integrity, and in accordance with the law to maintain peace and harmony.
The public has been urged to avoid speculation that could hinder the investigation process and instead provide the police with accurate and verified information.
