Kuala lumpur: No arrests were made by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in connection with the rally held in the capital today, says Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail. He said the assembly proceeded peacefully, was well-controlled, and took place without any incidents that threatened public order.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated in a press release that all control measures were executed professionally and ethically, showcasing PDRM’s calm and responsible approach in ensuring that democratic space is exercised safely and prudently. He mentioned that a total of 3,000 officers and personnel from the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters and various departments at Bukit Aman Police Headquarters were deployed to manage the situation effectively.
Police monitoring estimated the attendance at around 18,000 people. Participants began gathering in stages from as early as 10.30 am in areas around the National Mosque, Sogo shopping complex, Masjid Jamek, and Pasar Seni, before moving towards Dataran Merdeka at about 2 pm.
During the assembly, PDRM implemented security monitoring and traffic control along all affected routes to ensure public order was maintained. Several political figures and representatives of organizations were seen addressing the participants. Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail emphasized that PDRM remains committed to upholding public order, national security, and the continuity of the people’s rights fairly, prudently, and in accordance with the law.
