Queen Lauds Success Of Girl Guides Malaysia


Kuala lumpur: Her Majesty, Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia has commended the various achievements attained by Girl Guides Association of Malaysia (GGAM) throughout its 109 years of establishment. As the Royal Patron of GGAM, Her Majesty expressed her pride in the association’s steadfast spirit, commitment, and achievements in various programs, including at the global level.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, Her Majesty noted various extraordinary achievements throughout GGAM’s 109-year history, including the Jade Camp Programme. This event, held for the first time on a large scale at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), involved the participation of 1,000 girls and leaders. The program notably included the B40 group and the Orang Asli community, underscoring GGAM’s commitment to inclusivity and unity among its members.



The Queen shared these remarks during the GGAM World Thinking Day 2026 – Our Friendship celebration at Dewan Wawasan. She also highlighted the International Day of the Girl (IDG) programme, themed Girls’ Advocacy Circles: Empowering Girls’ Voices, which engaged over 2,000 participants. The program focused on digital safety, anti-bullying, mental health, and underage marriage, enhancing awareness and education among participants.



Raja Zarith Sofiah emphasized that as GGAM turns 110, the association continues its dedication to empowering girls to become knowledgeable, competent, and moral citizens. In her speech, GGAM president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail urged the current generation to think globally and uphold universal human values centered on the Rukun Negara. She stressed the importance of positive relationships, especially in family integrity, inclusiveness, and racial and ethnic unity in Malaysia.



Dr Wan Azizah further emphasized the significance of unity in a country rich in diverse races and religions, stating, “Unity is very important, and we need to stand strong together, divided we fall.” The event was also attended by Kedah Raja Puan Muda Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff and the Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia, Datuk Yeoh Soo Keng.
