Tapah: The Public Works Department (PWD/JKR) will conduct an assessment on the condition of the wooden bridge at Kampung Orang Asli Lubuk Gaharu, Tapah, before any further decisions are made on the matter. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad emphasized that the proposed infrastructure upgrade must be evaluated based on actual needs, including the number of users and the types of vehicles utilising the area. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the discussion regarding the bridge was held during the State Executive Council (MMK) meeting. The issue was previously raised by the former Chenderiang State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Dr. Mah Hang Soon. Every application for infrastructure development will be thoroughly scrutinised in terms of justification, considering factors such as the volume of users and the frequency of heavy vehicles and cars passing through the area. Saarani pointed out that if the usage of the bridge is very low, constructing an advanced bridge may not be justified, and a suspension b ridge could suffice. Saarani made these remarks after officiating the Launch Ceremony of the Perak State-Level Falak Month for the Year 1448H/2026 at the Impiana Hotel. He highlighted the importance of assessing the actual needs to ensure that resources are allocated effectively. On June 9, Chenderiang State Assemblyman (ADUN) Choong Shin Heng mentioned his intent to submit an application for the construction of a new bridge at Kampung Orang Asli Lubuk Gaharu. The existing bridge, built using basic materials such as bamboo and wooden planks, has been in place for two years and was notably the location where female hiker Jaslinda Saludin, 49, was found after she went missing while hiking at Gunung Batu Putih, Tapah, on May 24. Regarding contributions for the Orang Asli individuals who found Jaslinda, Saarani stated that the matter is still being refined, as the official report on the incident has not yet been received.
