PSB, DPDC Forge Partnership To Develop Poultry Farm In Perak

Perak: Perbadanan Ekonomi Islam Perak Sdn Bhd (PSB) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dindings Poultry Development Centre Sdn Bhd (DPDC) to develop a breeder chicken farm in the state. PSB chairman, Datuk Dr Ansary Ahmed, stated that the strategic partnership through PSB aims to enhance the food security agenda under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan, aligning with the decree of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, to strengthen the state’s strategic role in national food security.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MoU will facilitate the development of a 16-hectare breeder chicken farming complex, with an additional 60 hectares identified for future expansion. The collaboration involves transforming PSB-owned land into an integrated poultry farm using modern closed-house systems, supported by DPDC’s technical expertise. The project aims to ensure a stable chicken supply for the local market and for export, while strengthening the national poultry supply chain.

PSB, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk), partners with DPDC, a subsidiary of Dindings Tyson Sdn Bhd (DTSB), which is a joint venture between Malayan Flour Mills Berhad (MFM) and Tyson International Holding Company. The MoU was signed by PSB group chief executive officer Amirul Hakim Abdullah and MFM deputy executive chairman and managing director, who is also DTSB executive chairman Teh Wee Chye, witnessed by Ansary and MFM independent director Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Mahamad Zain.

Ansary mentioned that the project is expected to generate job opportunities for the local community and boost economic growth in agriculture, logistics, and related services. He emphasized PSB’s commitment to spearhead economic development and align with the royal mandate to establish Perak as a national agri-food hub. He expressed optimism that more strategic land assets can be mobilized to enhance the country’s food resilience.

Meanwhile, Teh noted that the collaboration with PSB would enhance their upstream poultry farming capabilities and expand DTSB’s operational footprint in Perak. He views this partnership as a long-term investment with significant impacts on business, national food security, and community development. The PSB-DPDC collaboration is also expected to contribute to the national goal of achieving a Self-Sufficiency Level (SSL) of 140 per cent in chicken meat production by 2030, reflecting an ongoing commitment to a sustainable and competitive national agri-food sector.
