Kuala lumpur: The investigation into the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, on April 1 was carried out independently and transparently, without any interference from the Selangor government, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. He emphasized that the Selangor government was not directly involved in the investigation but only served as one of the 212 witnesses.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin highlighted the focus on the special committee established to study the report on the incident and recommend measures to the state government. He assured that the investigation was conducted independently, dismissing any claims of interference as unfounded. He made these remarks at a press conference after officiating the Publicity and Public Participation Programme for the Draft Local Plan of the Sepang Municipal Council, Selangor 2035 (Replacement).
Amirudin also assured that the full report of the investigation would be made public once approval is obtained from the relevant authority. He stated that the public would have the opportunity to review the report to understand who was responsible and what explanations were provided. He urged that perceptions of interference be based on clear and scientific evidence.
Furthermore, Amirudin stressed the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had full autonomy to conduct the investigation, which included summoning witnesses such as the developer, security guards, and excavator operators. The police investigation found no evidence of negligence or foul play.
He previously announced that Selangor would establish a special committee to devise long-term strategies and propose new regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future. The police have classified the gas pipeline explosion incident as No Further Action (NFA) following criminal investigations that found no elements of negligence or sabotage.
The incident resulted in significant damage, destroying 81 houses with structural damage exceeding 40 percent, partially destroying another 81, and affecting 57 without burning, while 218 houses were unaffected, including those in Kampung Tengah, Puchong.
