Police Nab Local Man In KL South Condo; Seize Drugs Worth RM1 Mln

Kuala lumpur: Police arrested a man and seized nearly RM1 million worth of syabu (methamphetamine) and heroin base drugs in two raids around the Klang Valley on Aug 20.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that the 29-year-old local man was apprehended by officers from the Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department at 6.15 pm in the lobby of a condominium in KL South. During the arrest, police confiscated a plastic bag containing two compressed lumps of suspected heroin base drugs, weighing 741.5 grammes.

The arrest led police to a Toyota Vios car parked in the Taman Segar area of Cheras. A search of the vehicle revealed a sack and a cloth bag containing eight compressed blocks of suspected heroin base, weighing three kilogrammes, and 20 packets of Chinese tea suspected to be laced with methamphetamine weighing 20.5 kg in the car boot.

Fadil noted that the total drugs seized weighed approximately 23.74 kg, valued at RM974,000, which could provide a single dose for 420,400 addicts. He explained that the syndicate, active since October last year, used cars for storing drugs before distribution. The heroin base was intended to be processed before sale to drug addicts. The suspect had a prior conviction under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days until Aug 27, with the case being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
