KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) collected outstanding traffic summonses totalling RM9.13 million during the three-day Two Years of MADANI Government Programme (2TM) from Friday to yesterday. Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri stated that the total collection involved the settlement of 103,590 outstanding traffic summonses.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, for the three-day period from Nov 22 to 24, a total of 103,590 summonses were settled amounting to RM9,139,750.00. Payments were made through various channels, including PDRM counters in cash and e-payment, and vouchers settled via the PDRM MyBAYAR portal and application. Mohd Yusri expressed pride in the extraordinary response from 32,500 individuals who came forward to settle their summonses.
He further clarified that JSPT did not set any specific collection targets, emphasizing that the focus was on the public’s increasing awareness and willingness to settle the
ir summonses. The summonses covered a range of offences, including driving over the speed limit, violating traffic lights, and obstructing traffic lanes, which recorded the highest number of summonses.
Mohd Yusri expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation in settling outstanding summonses in conjunction with 2TM. He urged the public not to wait for discount offers to pay their fines. Additionally, Mohd Yusri mentioned that JSPT is studying the possibility of expanding the fine reduction programme nationwide in a cashless manner by utilizing the PDRM MyBAYAR application and increasing the number of registered users of the application.
