Player Fitness Main Focus As National Team Training Camp Kicks Off In Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru: Player fitness will be the main focus during the national football team’s centralised training camp in preparation for Malaysia’s second Group F match in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers against Vietnam this June. National head coach Peter Cklamovski said the players’ fitness levels needed to be improved, especially after a four-week break following the conclusion of the Malaysia League season.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, phase one of the training is crucial as players return from their off-season break. The players have been maintaining their fitness by following individual training programmes outside the camp. Cklamovski expressed his eagerness to begin on-field training with the team, highlighting the importance of improving fitness levels.

The 46-year-old Australian coach emphasized the significance of personalized training. He and his staff are committed to crafting individual development plans for each player. The objective is to aid their development and help them reach their full potential as athletes.

Cklamovski outlined that the training camp, which commenced today in Johor Bahru, is structured into three distinct phases. He stated that each phase has specific objectives and is tailored to the players’ current conditions and the demands of the domestic football calendar.

From the squad that competed against Nepal in March, Cklamovski has retained 25 players for the current training camp. Additionally, several new players, including those from the national Under-23 squad, have been called up to join the team.
